Israel Folau posts his views on same sex marriage, just one day after the Australian Rugby Union announced there support for the 'yes' campaign.
Israel Folau made a Instagram post (which has since been deleted) relating to God's Plan. Folau responded to a users question regarding "What's Gods plan for gay people?"
Rugby Australia issued Israel Folau with a breach notice as a result of his comments on both Twitter and Instagram. Folau later asked for the matter to be referred to a Code of Conduct hearing.
Folau comments on Twitter in response to Tasmania's introduction of gender-optional birth certificates.
Chief Executive of Rugby Australia, Raelene Castle and NSW Rugby Union CEO, Andrew Hore, issued a statement outlining their intentions to terminate Folau's contract.
Rugby Australia Chief Executive Raelene Castle said in a statement
“Following the events of last year, Israel was warned formally and repeatedly about the expectations of him as player for the Wallabies and NSW Waratahs with regards to social media use and he has failed to meet those obligations."

"Rugby is a sport that continuously works to unite people. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our game and no vilification based on race, gender, religion or sexuality is acceptable and no language that isolates, divides or insults people based on any of those factors can be tolerated.”

Israel Folau met with members from both Rugby Australia and the NSW Rugby Union. The meeting resulted in NSW Rugby Union standing down Folau indefinitely from all player duties.
May 7 2019
The Code of Conduct hearing concluded after 3 days of deliberations. Whilst the sanctions are yet to be finalised the panel did reach a verdict.
