People 18 years and older with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (I/DD) diagnosis.
who is eligible for brokerage services?
An Intellectual Disability determination is IQ-based, while a Developmental Disability diagnosis might include Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol effect, and other disabilities.
who determines eligibility?
In Oregon, eligibility for I/DD services is determined at local county disability programs.
To get the process started, call your local county and ask to speak with someone in eligibility/intake.
The eligibility process may take up to 90 days.
once you are determined
A county representative is responsible for explaining what choices you have for case management and resource navigation supports. This is called choice advising.
If you choose to receive services from a brokerage, let the county representative know which brokerage you'd like to work with and they'll get the transfer process started.
In the Portland metro area, you can choose from six different brokerages.
