for better sleep
For People with Narcolepsy
Take out the trash
Whatever it is that you HAVE to do tomorrow and will be awake worrying about it, just do it today if possible.
Make your bed a sleep oasis
Think quality sheets, good pillow, and whatever you need to be comfortable. Remove everything else from the bed.
Clear your worries
For those things you can't do today, write them down so they aren't keeping you from sleeping peacefully.
Get in the mood
Finish up things on screens as early as possible. Set your alarms and let your eyes rest.
Give yourself time
Get in bed at least 30 minutes before you feel you need to be asleep in order to get your quota of shut-eye.
Once you are relaxed in bed, take a few minutes to make a mental list of things you are grateful for today.
When negative thoughts come into your head, turn them around. Tomorrow will be amazing.
Experiment with breathing exercises that help you relax. I like to count as I inhale and exhale, and increase the number by one with each set of breaths.
Allow yourself to be where you are and don't judge yourself.
Allow yourself to drift peacefully into sleep. If you wake up in the night, go back to step 7.
