Bod made up the story in his head, and lived it. This would be caused by loneliness, and the loss of his family.
The causes and effects of loneliness on people from the article, "The Toxic Well of Loneliness".
In the article "The Toxic Well of Loneliness", the authors wrote loneliness is "stemming from feelings not only from loneliness, but from isolation and poor quality relationships and isolation." This means that in Bod's case, loneliness cold be a cause of his theoretical hallucination or made up story
Bod only had access to adult figure for about 1/3 of the book, and the 1/3 of the book where he socialized with children was when he was getting bullied or playing with Scarlet.
In the article "The Toxic Well of Loneliness", the author talks about how loneliness can effect an change the human mind. For example, he states that "researchers have concluded that loneliness can have a large effect on the human mind, and can impact our everyday lives". This quote shows us that loneliness is a real problem that can greatly effect our way of life.
Bod had a traumatizing experience when his family was murdered by Jack. This could have caused him to spiral into loneliness, leading to him making up the Graveyard Book story in his head

The theory the Graveyard Book story is in Bod's imagination
People have problems with bullying because it happens all the time.
Bullying All Together
Stealing Lunch Money
Mo and Nick stole peoples' lunch money, and would threaten to or hit them. An example of Mo and Nick bullying Bod is when Mo, Nick, and Bod were in a heated argument, and the author said, "Nick's brow crinkled. Then he said, 'you're dead, Owens.'"-(Gaimen 187) Bullying is a major problem in "the Graveyard Book", and changed the story greatly. The outcome of the novel would not be the same if there was n't this controversial topic in it. Bod stood up to the bullies as everyone else should when they are bullied. This is an example of what you should do when you are bullied. The author is showing that you need to stand up for yourself and not get pushed around. He is trying to deal with this issue through the book.
People need to stop bullying. Bullying could be physical, emotional, or psychological harm to a victim, the inability of the victim to stop the bully on their own, a power difference in which the bully has more emotional, physical, or social influence than the victim does, and a repetitive action happening. In this article, "Bullying opposing points," it states that there are 4 main types of bullying and in the book there are two, physical bullying and verbal bullying. This same text states, "The issue is primarily considered in contexts involving school-aged children and adolescents." So kids need to be careful in school about what they say or do and if it is mean.
