France took Algeria as their own and made Algeria a Departement of France. During the French colonial rule, France modernized Algerian agriculture and commercial economy. Also, primary education was available but very limited to people.
After World War 2, Algeria wanted independence from the French colonial rule, they raised their flags high as a sign of freedom but however ended bad with the French responded with shootings. But they never gave up. Soon, the National Liberational Front went to war with France to get Algeria its independence. After 5 long years (1954 - 1959), Charles de Gaulle declared that Algeria should have the power to create a good future for their country, Algeria. In 1962, France and its army came to an agreement that Algeria would be a independant country, after the terroists attacks by France to Algeria and the attempted coup by French army.
30 years after Algeria got its independence from France, many good things have occurred in the country, as well as bad things. Algeria is now a constitutional democracy, where citizens can vote for leaders and rights are respected, as well as a organized government. For travel, Algerians no longer need exit visas to able to leave the country and the foreign exchange allowance for travelers had been increasing in recent years. As well, Algeria's population has been rapidly growing. However there some bad things in the country. Food and other goods are scarce for country, as well fruit juice is unobtainable, also with young people looking at empty stores. That's not all as the security in Algeria is very oppressive and the prosperity of the country is very inefficent and uncontrollable. For a country that has been recently free from colonial rule, Algeria has been doing good for themselves and for the future of the country, even though with some negatives happening in the country.
