Art students created a mural for Sunbeam Family Services and biology students traveled to the Texas coast to study gulf coast ecology. In all, arts and sciences students have participated in about 25 internships this year.
Dance students performed several times this year in the American Spirit Dance Company, with the Spirit of Grace Liturgical Dancers and with the Pep Dancers. Students also developed choreography for several events. Entertainment Business, Dance Management, and Dance Teaching students served in stage management and technical positions. Teaching and studio management students also worked in OCU's Community Dance Center.
Nursing students took part in simulation experiential learning in the Meinders Simulation Center and in clinical placements and healthcare agencies.
Music students performed in large ensemble concerts, performance recitals, the Chapel choir and other settings. Students in the digital and hybrid tech lab class learned how to use the newest beat and sound production workstation, Maschine, and shared their skills with El Sistema's Esperanza students. Music and Theatre students also attended OCU showcases in New York City and Los Angeles. Theatre students also performed with faculty and alumni in CityRep's regional professional premiere production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time."
Theatre and performance students visited the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, interacting with working professionals. Students in the Theatre for Social Change course worked with classes at metro elementary and high schools.
Business students have learned how to use the Meinders School of Business Bloomberg Terminals and finance students have completed Bloomberg Certification Training.
