Four year olds are still afraid of creatures like monsters and ghost. They also realize a different between the real and imagined. They are aware of more dangers but dont fully understand. Five year olds are more afraid of getting hurt. They may be afraid of doctors and dentist. They are aware of pain or injuries associated with them.
Four year olds do not have as many causes for anger. They do become angry if they cant reach their goals. They may use pushing, hitting, or kicking to show anger. Five year olds use words rather then being physical. If it is physical they would take it out on an object.
Four year olds may get jealous when they get a new sibling. They get jealous that their parents are spending a lot of time with them. Five year olds may go back to toileting accidents if jealous. Both of the ages need to be reassured that they are loved.
Both ages start to learn that some situations are sad. They become aware of the concept of death. They do not understand that death cannot be reversed but when they do understand it they become sad.
They are not sure how to express the feeling of sadness. It is important for adults to teach them that it is okay to cry and talk about their feelings

Teachers should focus on how emotional their kids are. If a child show signs of jealousy, the teacher should ask if something is going on at home. If the teacher knows that they got a new brother or sister, the teacher could teach a lesson about it. Children that are filled with fear, they should play because its therapeutic. If a child is angry, you should teach the child not to be physical and to express their anger in a different way. It is important for teachers to comfort children when they are sad. In each room a teacher should have a place where a child can calm them selves down when sad.
